September 2019 saw the launch of our Advocacy Café in Glanhafren in Newtown. It is a pilot project funded by an Awards for All (Wales) National Lottery grant and part of our Inclusion Maldwyn initiative. Our new Project Facilitator, Gail Dean, is pictured above with A Voice for You Co-ordinator Shirley Howson.
Inclusion Maldwyn aims to encourage, enable and support people with a learning disability to participate in their local community, establishing and maintaining meaningful social connections.
Why an Advocacy Café?
The café is somewhere you can go :
- for a friendly chat
- to meet old friends and make new friends
- to help if you have a problem
- for advice about who else can help
- for a chance to chill and listen to some music or have a go at a craft
The café is also somewhere you could go to find out more about what’s happening in the local community – it will support and help you to get involved.
When is the Newtown Advocacy Cafe Open?
The Cafe is open on the first and third Tuesday of each month between 10.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.
